You could send an email, a text message, with or without images, but all these digital form of invitation might not be enough, you can put all the details, some guests might feel it is not a proper invitation. Wedding invitation can be seen as too traditional, but getting married is traditional, after it is how you do it, how you make it your own that will make it personal and maybe untraditional.
Your wedding invitation isn’t just a piece of paper; it’s the first glimpse your guests get of the magical day you’re planning. It sets the tone, reflects your style, and hints at all the fun, romance, and personality you’re bringing to your celebration. But here’s something you might not know: wedding invitations often end up as cherished keepsakes, not just for you, but for your guests too! Yeah, not all of them finish as trash, most of them are being kept, and my wedding stationery bring another level of interactivity that you guests will love to keep and play with.
In this post, I’m diving into why invitations matter so much, how they become treasured mementos, and what makes a personalised design extra special. Whether it’s a unique origami format, a touch of your love story, or a playful twist that guests can’t resist, a well-designed invitation is something they’ll want to hold onto. Let’s explore why your wedding invitation is truly a little gift for your guests—and how to make it unforgettable.
With that said, here are 7 reasons why you should have wedding invitations
Let’s be real—when planning your wedding, every little detail feels like a big deal. But out of everything, the invitation is the sneak peek into your special day. It’s like the trailer for a blockbuster movie, setting the mood, giving a taste of what’s to come, and getting everyone excited. Invitations tell guests, “This is our day, and here’s how it’s going to feel!” Whether it’s playful, romantic, bold, or traditional, your invitation sets the vibe that gets everyone counting down the days.
And, I don't to feel hard, but your wedding will be possible only if you invite your guests! You certainly might have started to plan your wedding, but it will start to feel reel once you have sent out invites! Once your guests starts to answer you back.
Wedding invitation give the vibe but its main goal too is to give mainly all the details your guests might need such as: addresses, direction, map, children, + 1, accommodation list, taxis, gifts, menus, coach/transport, dress code, bar cash, program of the day/evening. You include only the information you find relevant to your wedding, but I am pretty sure there would be a relatively good amount of information to provide! How could you integrate all these into a digital form? almost impossible, or it will look too busy and messy, having a paper form will be easier for your guests to consult later on. As opposite of an email or a text that will be drown in the middle of others.
So, if you don't want to be bother by your guests asking you all the same questions about your wedding day, it is best to include all the info inside a personal, informal but playful invitation such as my origami format! Do you know all these information fit on only one piece of paper?! Yes, it is the magic of origami, each fold will reveal one information once it is opened! A fantastic way to keep your guests entertain from the moment they unwrap your wedding invitation!
Picture this: your wedding invitation lands in a guest’s hands, and they immediately feel the vibe of your wedding. With every fold and colour, every word and design choice, they start picturing your big day. Will it be a rustic celebration in the countryside, a chic city soirée, or maybe a whimsical garden gathering? Your invitation gives guests a taste of that experience, like a little window into what you’re planning. Imagine your guests turning in a black tie outfit for an festival vibe wedding, they would feel uncomfortable! Your guests need to feel the vibe and ambiance of your wedding day. And for those creative invitations—like an origami design!—it’s a work of art in itself that guests will want to hold onto.
My origami format are customisable or I can create a full wedding theme or design to tailor something to your personalities, your venue, your passions. A same heart origami invitation can look classic and romantic or rustic and whimsical or playful and bold! I have some templates available to choose from that you could still customise or you can take the options of some bespoke designs.
Here’s a fun fact: people are sentimental! Studies on keepsake habits show that many people love holding onto little tokens that remind them of special events. And wedding invitations are no exception! Although exact numbers vary, wedding mementos are among the most cherished keepsakes people save. Invitations often end up in memory boxes or even framed, because they mark one of life’s most joyful occasions and are usually so beautifully designed. People will often keep the ones they really like, because of the designs or the style, because they found it more original. And my origami wedding invitation are perfect, they are unique, interactive and playful, a perfect keepsake to hold forever. Because origami invitation are linked with an experience of unfolding, unwrapping, unveiling information, they will associate their emotions to the discovery of your unique invitation. Each time they will see it, it will bring back high level of emotions, the surprises they had, all the "wow, Ahh, Ohh" moments! Life is beautiful, enjoy the little things, they say, for one day you may look back and realise they were the big things.
And, while there aren’t many hard stats on exactly how many people keep their wedding invitations, we know that invitations are a popular part of keepsake boxes. They’re included along with vows, gift favour, wedding programs, and menus because they capture the spirit and style of the day. Think of it this way: when the design is something unique and special (like, say, an origami masterpiece!), it becomes even more likely to be saved.
Invitations aren’t just pretty—they’re practical, too! They hold all the important details, like the date, venue, RSVP info, and other must-know elements that I mentioned before : addresses, direction, map, children, + 1, gifts, accommodation, taxis, menus, dress code, cash bar, program of the day/evening. Guests often keep the invite handy because it’s easier than checking a text or email every time they need a reminder. But the magic happens when beauty meets function: invitations that are beautifully crafted serve as more than just a source of information. They’re pieces of art that guests might display on their fridge, their desk, or a shelve. So, while they’re reaching for the info, they’re also admiring your invitation as a stylish, personal keepsake.
Your wedding invitation will also have a major piece of information, the RSVP details! To have a wedding, you need guests to attend! Having a clear RSVP will provide your guests with the process on how to answer you, either by post, email or text (your choice!), you can ask in the RSVP for any details you need from your guests, such as their choice of meal, their dietary requirements, if they want to use your coach service, if they want a accommodation book from you etc! The RSVP will give as well an important deadline to when to answer by. (as a generality, give a minimum of a month to answer up to 3 months) I will write another blog on the RSVP subject! And again, having a paper RSVP version is more readable, easier to keep track!
Let’s talk about the power of a personal touch! When an invitation reflects you as a couple, it’s so much more than just paper. It could be elements inspired by your love story, your favourite colours, or passions, your travels, your family, your favourite activity, or maybe a quirky detail only your closest friends will recognise. This personal connection makes the invitation feel like a little gift for each guest, something made just for them, and they’re much more likely to keep it. They will need to say, "oh this wedding invitation is so much like them!"
If you wedding invitation has full bespoke design, I will not only create elements but I will provide a full world, full of details, to immerse your guests in your environment, in your love story.
Unique, personalised invitations often find their way into memory boxes, scrapbooks, and keepsake shelves because they’re just too meaningful to throw away.
Here’s something magical: a well-designed invitation doesn’t just introduce the wedding—it keeps the memory alive long after the last dance. When guests see the invitation on their fridge or in a keepsake box, it’s a little time machine that takes them back to the beautiful day. Even months or years later, looking at the invitation will remind them of the moments they shared with you, bringing back all the smiles, laughs, and maybe a few happy tears. It’s a piece of your day that lives on in their memory.
As I mentioned before, my origami invitation and origami wedding stationery bring an experience to your guests, these piece of papers will have an even more emotional power, remembrance of your wedding day, its events but also all the emotions emitted by the unveiling of your wedding invitation. Keeping these playful wedding stationery will make them reviving those moments, and I am sure your will always one of their favourite because they are so unique!
So, what’s the takeaway here? When you put love and creativity into your invitations, you’re creating more than just wedding stationery—you’re making keepsakes that your guests will hold onto. Invitations that capture your personalities, share a hint of your love story, and bring a playful twist (like origami!) are ones that won’t get tossed. They become treasured mementos of your wedding day, making a lasting impression on your friends and family.
In short, your invitations are worth every ounce of creativity and detail. They’ll be cherished, shared, and saved, leaving a beautiful little legacy of the love you celebrated on that unforgettable day.
At the end of the day, your wedding invitation is more than an invite—it’s a piece of your love story and a lasting reminder of your big day. A thoughtful, personalised invitation can be that cherished keepsake guests hold onto, connecting them back to your special celebration long after the day itself.
